View fullsize Winter is a great time to see wildlife in Yellowstone. The road from Mammoth Hot Springs to the north east entrance is open for car travel. On the way, there is Lamar Valley where bison, grizzlies, black bear, elk and wolves roam. View fullsize There are 345 bighorn sheep in the northern Yellowstone area which extends 20 miles north of the park. The bighorn sheep occupy steep terrain in the upper Yellowstone River drainage. View fullsize I usually take photos of bison, elk, coyote, and pronghorn but this raven was very intriguing. He was posing for me in various places around the bison and I was able to capture 22 different photos of this guy. The detail in its feathers is amazing!
